FGFD Racquet Mania Event

Even the questionable weather did not deter the hearty pickleball and tennis players from having fun at today’s Fairfield Glade Fire Department’s racquet fundraiser.

The day’s event began with the presenting of the colors by the Cumberland County Young Marines and the Pledge of Allegiance. Morning rain forced the pickleballers indoors. Even so, there was exciting play as participants joined random pick-up teams to play with one of the tennis center pros. Weather broke about 11 am and the pickleball festivities moved to the outdoor courts.

Tennis players got into the act at 2 PM indoors, participating with the same pick-up game format playing with pros. Everyone had a good time while raising funds for the FGFD.

A special thank you to William Taylor, Director of Racquet Sports, without whose cooperation this event would not be possible. We would also like to thank William, Dylan, Amir, Thomas, Eric and Norm, the pros who participated in the event.

We would also like to thank all our sponsors for donating prizes, especially Good Times Wine Spirits and Brew for their sponsorship of this event.

We would be remiss if we didn’t thank one of our own, Firefighter Larry Gagnon for spearheading this event.

As always, thank you to the Fairfield Glade Community for their continued moral and financial support of the FGFD’s mission. Take a moment to watch the video of the event.
