A Message from the FGFD Fire Prevention Officer

Fire Prevention in Fairfield Glade is a scary thing for me to write about. Mostly because many Americans do not consider fire and their fire department anywhere near the top of their list of concerns. Look at these three

TAKE CARE items:

  • TAKE CARE #1—Take care of your fire department. You have heard the saying ‘You only get out what you put in’? What if your house catches fire? What if a wildfire rages over the hill and burns down hundreds of houses? Are you concerned you might not survive? Your taxes do not support the Fairfield Glade Fire Department. They rely on your donations. You only get out what you put in.

  • TAKE CARE #2—Take care of the outside of your house. A REAL concern of the Fairfield Glade Fire Department is a wildfire sweeping across our neighborhoods burning hundreds of houses and killing many or our people. We outlined three things you can do: Clean gutters and roofs of leaves and limbs. Trim trees at least 5 feet off the ground. Clear flammables at least 30 feet away from your house. Please look at the TENNESSEE FIREWISE section of this website.

  • TAKE CARE #3—Take care of your smoke detectors. A very common mistake people in Fairfield Glade make is not replacing smoke detectors that are over 10 years old. They are unreliable and must be replaced. If you need help with replacing them, call us or send us an email to fgfddetectors@gmail.com. If you can’t afford to buy them, the state of Tennessee gives us a supply to help.

  • TAKE CARE of these and you are taking care of yourself.
