This past Sunday, May 19th, the Fairfield Glade Fire Department responded to a kitchen fire on Hilton Lane. Dispatch placed the call of a structure fire at 1:55 PM. Eight minutes later there were firefighters on-scene assessing the situation and working to extinguish the fire. Cumberland County Fire assisted our department with an additional apparatus and 2 personnel who assisted with overhaul and assistance. Oil on the stovetop ignited which in turn caught cabinets on fire, spreading the fire to consume the kitchen. There was severe smoke and water damage to the home but there were no injuries. FGFD thanks CCFD for their assistance. The FGFD’s quick response saved the house and the resident. It should be noted, that also on the same day at 11:36 PM the FGFD responded to an EMS request to set up a helicopter landing zone at Food City. A long but successful day for the members of the Fairfield Glade Fire Department.
